Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain language, what personal data AlertPing collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. The short version: we collect what running an uptime monitoring service requires, and nothing else. We never sell your data.
Effective date: July 5, 2026.
Who we are
AlertPing operates the uptime monitoring service at this website and is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us any time at [email protected] or via the contact page.
What we collect
- Account email. The address you sign up and log in with, and where we send alerts and service messages.
- Signup source and UTM parameters. Which page or campaign brought you to us, so we know what is working.
- IP address and user agent at signup. Recorded once at account creation, for fraud and abuse prevention.
- Monitoring configurations. The URLs, IPs, ports, check intervals, assertion rules and alert destinations you set up.
- Billing details. When you purchase a plan: name, billing address, VAT or tax ID where applicable, and payment method details held by our payment processor. We never store full card numbers ourselves.
What we deliberately do not collect is described on our security page: we do not store your users' data, and we do not store page bodies beyond the short excerpt around a failed assertion.
Why we collect it
- To run the service: execute your checks, confirm outages and deliver alerts.
- To manage your account, respond to support requests and send service notices.
- To bill you for a paid plan and keep the records tax law requires.
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To understand, in aggregate, how people find and use AlertPing so we can improve it.
Legal bases
- Contract: account data, monitoring configurations and billing details, which we need to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interest: signup IP and user agent, signup source, and aggregate product analytics.
- Legal obligation: invoicing and tax records.
- Consent: analytics cookies, which you can decline or withdraw at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep account data for as long as your account is active, plus 12 months after it closes, then delete or anonymize it. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. You can request earlier deletion at any time; see your rights below.
Who processes it for us
We use a small set of processors, each bound by a data processing agreement and used only for the purpose named: an email delivery provider (alerts, login codes and service messages), an SMS delivery provider (SMS alerts), and hosting providers that run our infrastructure in our monitoring regions. We share only what each processor needs to do its job.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We disclose it only to the processors above, or if the law compels us to.
Cookies
We use essential cookies that the site cannot work without (session and security cookies) and analytics cookies that help us understand aggregate usage. Essential cookies do not require consent. Analytics cookies run only with your consent, and you can withdraw it whenever you like.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and similar laws you can:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Have your data erased ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to specific processing.
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
