Datadog On-Call costs $20 per seat a month billed annually, $24 on a month-to-month commitment and $29 on demand. A seat is anyone on a schedule, in an escalation policy or set up to receive pages. An eight-person rotation is $160 a month on an annual plan, about a dollar a seat less than PagerDuty Professional and four times what Splunk On-Call starts at.
Datadog also sells Incident Management at $30 a seat and a combined Incident Response seat at $40, which covers both products for $10 less than buying them separately. The figures below come from Datadog's US pricing list and its Incident Response billing documentation, and the arithmetic is shown so you can swap in your own headcount.
Datadog On-Call pricing and the two related seats
Datadog lists three commitment levels for every product. Annual is the cheapest per month; on-demand is what you pay with no commitment, or for usage above what you committed to.
| Product, per seat a month | Billed annually | Month to month | On demand |
|---|---|---|---|
| On-Call | $20 | $24 | $29 |
| Incident Management | $30 | $36 | $43.20 |
| Incident Response (both) | $40 | $48 | $58 |
Incident Response is the bundle to buy if the same people both carry the pager and run the incident afterwards. Datadog's documentation says that when you commit to Incident Response, anyone who meets either the On-Call or the Incident Management criteria claims one Incident Response seat rather than one of each. For a team of eight that is $320 a month instead of $400.
Who needs a Datadog On-Call seat
This is the part that decides your bill, and Datadog is fairly generous with it. According to the billing documentation, a user needs an On-Call seat if they participate in an on-call schedule, are included in an escalation policy, or have set up notification preferences to receive pages. A user does not need a seat to view existing pages, escalation policies, teams or schedules.
Incident Management seats follow a similar rule. Modifying an incident, adding to its timeline or assigning tasks and roles needs a seat. Creating incidents, viewing them, joining the incident channel and commenting in Slack do not. So a support lead who opens incidents and a product manager who reads them cost nothing, while every engineer on the rotation costs a seat.
Billing is on the maximum number of seats assigned at the same time during the billing period. A seat stays active and billed month to month until it is unassigned, and removing a user before the period ends stops future charges. In practice that means a contractor added to cover two weeks of holidays is a full month's seat, and forgetting to remove them is another month.
How much does Datadog On-Call cost for a team?
Monthly cost by rotation size, before any discount. The last column is what the same people cost if they also need Incident Management seats.
| Seats | On-Call, annual | On-Call, month to month | On-Call, on demand | Incident Response, annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | $80 | $96 | $116 | $160 |
| 8 | $160 | $192 | $232 | $320 |
| 15 | $300 | $360 | $435 | $600 |
| 30 | $600 | $720 | $870 | $1,200 |
A year of On-Call for eight engineers is $1,920 on an annual plan and $2,304 month to month. That is modest next to what most Datadog customers already spend on hosts and logs, which is why teams that live in Datadog tend to add it rather than keep a separate paging vendor.
Is Datadog On-Call cheaper than PagerDuty?
By a dollar a seat, on list. PagerDuty Professional is $21 per user a month billed annually and $25 monthly, against Datadog's $20 and $24. The bigger differences sit at the edges. PagerDuty has a Free plan for up to five users with one schedule, one escalation policy and limited SMS and phone notifications, so a tiny team can pay nothing. And above Professional, PagerDuty now sells its Reliability Platform on an annual platform fee, starting at $2,800 a year for 10 seats.
| Paging, per month, annual billing | 5 people | 8 people | 15 people |
|---|---|---|---|
| Datadog On-Call, $20 a seat | $100 | $160 | $300 |
| PagerDuty Professional, $21 a user | $105, or Free plan | $168 | $315 |
| Splunk On-Call, from $5 a user | $25 | $40 | Quote above 10 seats |
| AlertPing Team, flat | $59, or $29 a month yearly | $59, or $29 a month yearly | $59, or $29 a month yearly |
Splunk's pricing page states On-Call "starting at just $5 per user, per month, billed annually for up to 10 seats" and sends larger teams to a quote. Opsgenie is no longer an option for new buyers: Atlassian ended new sales in June 2025 and shuts it down on April 5, 2027, which is why many of the teams pricing Datadog On-Call are really pricing an Opsgenie replacement. Our PagerDuty pricing breakdown covers the Professional plan and the platform tiers in full, and our Datadog On-Call vs PagerDuty seat comparison prices 4 to 30 person rotations on both.
Per-seat paging tools have a habit of quietly multiplying. Each team signs up for its own, seats are added for every new hire and nobody removes the leavers, so the invoice drifts upward on a company card. If that sounds familiar, it is worth tagging every per-seat subscription to an owner with expense management software before comparing vendors, so you know how many seats you actually pay for today.
What Datadog On-Call is best for
Datadog On-Call makes most sense when your alerts already come from Datadog monitors. The page carries the monitor's context, the schedule lives next to the dashboards, and there is one vendor to renew. If your alerts come from many tools, PagerDuty's integration catalog is still the broader choice, and if you already run Splunk for logs or security, Splunk On-Call is the cheapest per seat for small teams.
There is a third case that per-seat pricing handles badly. Plenty of small SaaS and ecommerce teams page mainly for one reason: the website, API or checkout stopped answering. For them, the paging seat is only half the cost, because the check that triggers the page is billed too. In Datadog, every uptime check is an API test run at $5 per 10,000, so 20 URLs checked every minute from one location add about $438 a month (see our Datadog Synthetics pricing breakdown). Eight on-call seats plus those checks come to about $598 a month.
AlertPing's Team plan does that whole job flat: 100 monitors checked every 30 seconds from three regions, escalation chains and on-call hours, SMS, email, Slack and webhook alerts and five status pages, for up to 15 team members at $59 a month or $348 a year. It does not route alerts from your other tools, so it is not a PagerDuty replacement for a large platform team. For a team whose pager goes off when the website goes down, it replaces both the checks and the seats.

Datadog On-Call pricing questions
How much does Datadog On-Call cost?
Datadog On-Call is $20 per seat a month billed annually, $24 on a month-to-month commitment and $29 on demand. A seat is claimed by anyone on a schedule, in an escalation policy or set up to receive pages. Incident Response, which bundles On-Call with Incident Management, is $40 a seat annually.
Do I need a seat to page another team in Datadog?
No. Datadog's billing documentation says a user does not need a seat to page another team or to view pages, escalation policies, teams and schedules. Seats are for the people who receive pages: those on schedules, in escalation policies or with notification preferences set up for paging.
How is Datadog On-Call billed?
Each billing period is charged on the maximum number of seats assigned at the same time across your organization. A seat stays active and is billed month to month until you unassign it, and usage above your committed seats is charged at the on-demand rate of $29 a seat.
Is Datadog Incident Response cheaper than buying On-Call and Incident Management separately?
Yes, by $10 a seat. On-Call at $20 and Incident Management at $30 add up to $50 a seat a month on annual billing, while the Incident Response seat that covers both is $40. The saving only applies to people who need both; responders who only carry the pager are cheaper on On-Call alone.
