Site24x7 vs PRTG pricing for 50 to 1,000 network devices, with and without add-ons

| Comparisons | 8 min read

On list price Site24x7 is the cheaper of the two at every size. A 100-device network costs about $1,776 a year on Site24x7 Professional, billed monthly, against $4,296 a year for PRTG 1000. The gap is 1.7x to 2.5x across 50 to 1,000 devices. It closes only when every device also needs flow analysis and configuration tracking, because Site24x7 bills those as extra network components.

The two products count different things, which is why quotes for the same network look so far apart. Site24x7 sells network components, where one component covers one SNMP device with up to 100 interfaces. Paessler sells PRTG in sensor packs, where one sensor is one measurement, and sizes its tiers at about 10 sensors per device. Every price below comes from Site24x7's pricing page and Paessler's price list as published in October 2026, in US dollars before tax. The arithmetic is ours and each step is shown.

Comparing the two mainly to watch websites and public IPs?

Both tools poll from a machine inside your network. AlertPing checks 100 websites, APIs, ports and SSL certificates every 30 seconds from 2 outside regions, with SMS alerts and a status page, for a flat $348 a year on Team and nothing to install. See the plans and limits.

Site24x7 vs PRTG pricing at every network size

The Site24x7 column uses the Professional plan at $49 a month, which includes 10 network components, plus network component add-ons at the listed $11 per 10 components or $468 per 500, whichever is cheaper for the count. PRTG is matched to devices with Paessler's own sizing of about 10 sensors per device and is billed on an annual contract.

Devices Site24x7 Professional, per month Site24x7, per year PRTG license PRTG, per year PRTG vs Site24x7
50$93 ($49 + 4 x $11)$1,116PRTG 500$2,4002.15x
100$148 ($49 + 9 x $11)$1,776PRTG 1000$4,2962.42x
250$313 ($49 + 24 x $11)$3,756PRTG 2500$8,9042.37x
500$517 ($49 + $468)$6,204PRTG 5000$15,6002.51x
1,000$985 ($49 + 2 x $468)$11,820PRTG 10000$19,7041.67x

Two caveats keep the table honest. First, the Professional base drops from $49 to $42 a month when billed annually, so a yearly Site24x7 contract comes in slightly under these figures. Second, the per-device match for PRTG is an average. A core switch where you graph traffic on all 48 ports uses about 50 sensors on its own, so a network heavy in switches can push you a full PRTG tier higher. On Site24x7 that switch is still one component, because one component covers up to 100 interfaces on an SNMP device.

How is Site24x7 network monitoring licensed?

By network component. Site24x7 defines one component as one network device monitored over SNMP with up to 100 interfaces, one interface analyzed for traffic in its NetFlow module, or one device tracked for configuration changes. Each additional 100 interfaces on a device uses another component. Wireless controllers count as one component each, and access points as one component per two.

That last part is where most quotes drift. A device you poll, graph flows on and back up the configuration for can use three components rather than one. Site24x7 also sells servers, websites, applications and logs as separate allowances inside the same plan, so the network line is only one row of the bill.

How much does PRTG cost per year?

PRTG costs $2,400 a year for 500 sensors, $4,296 for 1,000, $8,904 for 2,500, $15,600 for 5,000 and $19,704 for 10,000, billed annually with support and updates included. Paessler quotes those as $200, $358, $742, $1,300 and $1,642 a month on an annual contract, and the Paessler-hosted edition costs within a few dollars of the self-hosted one. Freeware covers 100 sensors. Our full PRTG pricing breakdown has the per-sensor math.

When PRTG ends up close to Site24x7

PRTG puts flow monitoring inside the sensor license, while Site24x7 charges a component per NetFlow interface and per configuration-tracked device. So the comparison shifts once you load every device with both.

Scenario Site24x7 components Site24x7, per year PRTG, per year
100 devices, polling only100$1,776$4,296 (PRTG 1000)
100 devices + NetFlow on 100 interfaces + config tracking on 100 devices300$4,416$4,296 if the flow sensors still fit in 1,000
250 devices + NetFlow on 250 interfaces + config tracking on 250 devices750$9,372$8,904 if the flow sensors still fit in 2,500

At 100 fully loaded devices Site24x7 comes to $368 a month, or $4,416 a year, which is $120 more than PRTG 1000. The catch is on the PRTG side: 100 flow sensors on top of about 1,000 device sensors no longer fit in PRTG 1000, and the next tier is $8,904. PRTG also has no configuration backup module, so the two loaded rows are not quite the same job. In practice Site24x7 stays cheaper unless your devices need very few sensors each and you skip configuration tracking.

Is Site24x7 cheaper than PRTG?

Yes on list price, by 1.7x to 2.5x for 50 to 1,000 devices. A 100-device network is about $1,776 a year on Site24x7 Professional against $4,296 for PRTG 1000. The gap narrows when every device also needs NetFlow and configuration tracking, because each of those uses another Site24x7 component, and widens on networks with many monitored ports per switch, which PRTG counts sensor by sensor.

Is Site24x7 better than PRTG?

It depends on where you want the software to live. Site24x7 is a cloud service from Zoho that reaches internal devices through an on-premise poller you install, and it bundles websites, servers, applications and logs into the same plan. PRTG is a single license you run on your own Windows server, or Paessler hosts it for about the same price, with every sensor type included and no module catalog. If you also want OpManager in the shortlist, our OpManager vs PRTG pricing table runs the same sizes for ManageEngine's device-based license.

What neither tool sees from inside the network

Both products poll from a machine on your network, the PRTG core server or the Site24x7 on-premise poller. When the internet uplink, the firewall or that machine fails, the outage the customer feels is exactly the one the monitor cannot report. Site24x7 can watch public websites from its own cloud locations, which helps, but that sits in the website allowance rather than the network one.

If most of what you need to know is whether the website, the VPN gateway, the mail server and each branch office IP still answer from the internet, that is a smaller and cheaper job. AlertPing runs ping monitoring and port monitoring from US East and EU Central, confirms every failure from the second region before it pages anyone, and covers 100 endpoints for $348 a year on Team. Keep whichever network monitor you pick for the switches and the outside-in server monitoring for the edge.

One more line item tends to hide in this decision. Site24x7 bills monthly by card on its self-serve plans, with add-ons stacked on the same subscription, and finance teams often see one vendor charge they cannot split between network, web and logs. If your monitoring stack is spread over several cards and renewals, it is worth putting those charges through expense management software that categorizes every SaaS line to one vendor and cost center before the next renewal conversation.

Which one to buy for your network

Pick Site24x7 if you want a hosted platform, your devices have many ports each, and you also want websites, servers and logs on one bill. Pick PRTG if you want one license that includes every sensor type, flow monitoring without a separate meter, and software running on your own server. If you are leaving either, our PRTG alternative and Site24x7 alternative pages price the rest of the field, and the Site24x7 cost breakdown covers the web and infrastructure plans in full.

Does Site24x7 need an on-premise poller for network monitoring?

Yes, for devices inside a private network. Site24x7 runs in the cloud, so it reaches internal switches, routers and firewalls through an on-premise poller you install on a server in that network. The poller does the SNMP polling and sends results to Site24x7. Public websites and endpoints can be checked straight from Site24x7's cloud locations without one.

How many PRTG sensors do I need per device?

Paessler plans on about 10 sensors per device, which is why PRTG 1000 is described as enough for roughly 100 devices. The real number depends on what you graph. A server with ping, CPU, memory and two disks is about five sensors, while a 48-port switch with traffic graphed on every port uses about 50.
